Based in London, Lancastrian soprano ANGELA HICKS is a versatile singer, experienced in opera, oratorio, theatre, medieval, renaissence, chamber music and recitals with organ, piano and lute. 


Since embarking on her musical career, she has performed internationally, and has established herself as a specialist in the baroque repertoire. 

She is featured in the film 'The Favourite', directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, alongside Emma Stone and Rachael Weisz. The film is released in the UK in the New Year.


Angela is a member of a number of leading UK ensembles including The Monteverdi Choir, directed by John Eliot Gardiner, with which she now sings regularly, both as a soloist and as part of the choir. She is also a member of Ex Cathedra (Jeffrey Skidmore), Dowland Works (Emma Kirkby) and Joglaresa (Belinda Sykes).


Operatic highlights include the role of La Statue in Rameau’s Pygmalion, and chorus of Monteverdi’s Orfeo. 


She has sung as a soloist (Bach - Matthew Passion and cantatas with John Eliot Gardiner, John Passion with Jeffrey Skidmore) in some of the foremost concert venues in the UK and Europe, such as the Alter Oper - Frankfurt, De Oosterpoort - Netherlands, Berlin Philharmonie, Philharmonie im Gasteig - Munich, Wiener Konzerthaus - Vienna, Royal Chapel - Palace of Versailles, National Forum of Music - Poland, Barbican Centre - London, St John’s - Smith Square and Birmingham Symphony Hall.


In 2016, she sang in a solo recording of Bach cantata BWV 151 with the Monteverdi Choir’s record label Soli Deo Gloria.
